Winter

Some people have got a fridge the size of a small room. I have got a fridge the size of several rooms. The kitchen, hallway, bedroom and bathroom, to be precise. Living in an apartment with single glazing and a lonely gas heater in the living room has predictable downsides in winter. The effect of this on the human physique is peculiar to say the least. With my frozen nose sticking out above the covers, or my feet copying the temperature of the icelike concrete bathroom floor, it’s creating such a big temperature difference with the rest of my body that the heat flow alone could be used as a novel way of generating energy.
